Cooke & Hutchinson Lawyers said that it supported the Newman Government’s decision to cut red tape in relation to the purchase and sale of residential property in Queensland.
Cooke & Hutchinson Legal Practice Director, Mr Daniel Hutchinson said that “The announcement is long overdue. Any move that cuts red tape in relation to residential property transactions in Queensland is certainly welcome.”
“Both vendors and purchasers have had a terrible time attempting to comply with and interpret the current legislation, the number of matters before the courts in relation to compliance is proof of that”, Mr Hutchinson said.
“The devil will ultimately be in the detail, however, any move to simplify what is an unnecessarily complicated process should be welcomed by the legal fraternity, real estate agents and the general public.”
“We look forward to the release of the draft Bills and public consultation which we understand, from the Attorney’s media release, will take place in the coming weeks.”
