The appointment of The Honourable Tim Carmody as Queensland’s new Chief Magistrate is an excellent and well deserved one according to Cooke and Hutchinson Legal Practice Director Daniel Hutchinson.

The appointment was announced last week by Queensland Attorney General and Minister for Justice Jarrod Bleijie. Citing his career history as a police officer, Family Court Judge, adjunct professor of law at Queensland University of Technology and Queensland Crime Commissioner, the Attorney General was glowing in his praise for Mr Carmody.

“Tim Carmody has an extremely diverse background which will serve him and the court well”, said Mr Bleijie.

“Earlier this year, he headed the Child Protection Commission of Inquiry – the most comprehensive review of the child protection system in Queensland’s history.

“His unique blend of practical and legal experience made him the ideal choice and Executive Council approved his latest and very important role today.”

Mr Hutchinson was full of praise for the new Chief Magistrate.

“This is an excellent appointment by the Attorney General and I congratulate him on his choice”, said Mr Hutchinson.

“Mr Carmody is an exceptional legal expert whose no-nonsense, rational and clear thinking approach will ensure that this vital role continues to remain under more than capable stewardship.”
