COVID-19 continues to dominate our lives as we all struggle with restrictions imposed by our federal and state legislators.

To date most of us are staying well albeit socially and business/work wise disrupted.

The biggest ticket item for all of us in these trying times is to stay well.

Business disruption will continue for some time yet, even after government restrictions are relaxed.

Cooke & Hutchinson continues to provide its full suite of legal services during this pandemic (all facets of business law, estate planning, estate administration, estate litigation and will disputes) even though all of our staff are working remotely.

For our valued commercial clients we know that this pandemic has caused significant angst and, in many cases, business closures.

Both State and Federal Governments have moved swiftly to assist landlords and tenants during this extraordinary time of business downturn.

Significantly, the Federal Government has published the National Cabinet Mandatory Code of Conduct – SME Commercial Leasing Principles during COVID-19  and on 23 April 2020 the State Government passed two bills – Appropriation (COVID-19) Bill 2020 and the COVID-19 Emergency Response Bill 2020 ((for further information click on the links below).  Both bills are yet to obtain assent and when assented to will expire on 31 December 2020.

Cooke & Hutchinson have been assisting clients since COVID-19 restrictions began its assault and will continue to do so.  If you have a business- related enquiry regarding your commercial/retail tenancy please do not hesitate to contact us.

Stay safe!
