Cooke and Hutchinson Lawyers would like to congratulate our Jetty to Jetty team members Dane Bird-Smith and Rhydian Cowley on their marvellous efforts at last week’s World Athletic Championships in Moscow.

Both men did Australia proud, with Dane placing 11th overall in the Men’s 20km Race Walk with the unbelievable time of 1hr 23 mins 6 secs! Rhydian also flew the Aussie flag with pride finishing in the top 50 with an outstanding 1hr 33 mins 35 secs.

Cooke and Hutchinson Lawyers Legal Practice Director Daniel Hutchinson was full of praise for the two men.

“We could not be more proud of both Dane and Rhydian. These two outstanding young athletes are a credit to their community and the nation and both should be extremely satisfied with their efforts in Moscow,” said Mr Hutchinson.

“Both Dane and Rhydian’s achievements are all the more remarkable considering the comparative lack of exposure and funding provided to the majority of our track and field athletes. These achievements are a testament to the work and sacrifice put in by all our athletes and I congratulate Coach Dave Smith and his team on these results.

” Mr Hutchinson also noted the importance of the example that these athletes can set for the younger members of our community.

“What these guys go through day in, day out is tough. But they do it and don’t give up. Why? Not for fame and fortune, but for the achievement of simply doing. Doing something that at many stages may have seemed impossible but is now, for them, a reality. They are an inspiration to their community and a credit to themselves, their friends and their family.”
